What is Nihongo Center?
Japanese language school in Kyoto operating for 45 years with a high number of students from Western countries. Focusing a lot on communication practice, and unlike the majority of the Japanese language schools, most of our students are bachelor's degree holders with working experience. All our teachers are experienced in teaching Japanese to foreigners and already have experienced teaching Japanese in another country for several years. The school is located in the most convenient place in the center of Kyoto.

01 Apartment
For those who like their independance, we can recommend furnished apartments with internet, located at commutable distance from the school.
02 Sharehouse
If being alone doesn't suit you and you prefer to stay with friends, we can recommend fully furnished share houses where you will be able to study and have a good time with other students.
03 Homestay
For those who wish to get a full immersion into Japanese life, outside of class, you can look for a Japanese family to stay with. The placement procedure take some time and availabilities are limited. We recommend you to apply well in advance. That being said, a home stay is a unique experience and you will be able to learn more about Japanese culture.

This school really helped me improving my Japanese and the teachers are great. When I started, I just knew “kanas” and a few “Kanji” but I took the N2 test last time.

During the last 8 months, I could go with my classmates and school teachers to numerous event and experienced the Japanese culture. It is really a lot of fun! First, I thought about studying only one year but because I feel my Japanese really improved, I am planning to study for another year.

I have been in Japan for about 8 months so it is my second semester in Nihongo Center. I just passed the JLPT N3 and I felt I did well. I really feel I progressed since I started, especially on conversational skills.
Why do I think so? Because Nihongo Center really has an awesome method of teaching. Teachers always prepare theme’s discussion, and they guide us while discussing. There are so many discussion, essay and “Kanji” test that make us progress.
